Photography has been my passion for decades, starting with film. When I inherited a Nikon D50 in 2008 a few years ago, I used the camera's auto program until I started taking photography classes. I found the new technology scary and confusing. Since taking the Photo I, II and III classes and several others at Richard Stromberg's Chicago Photography Classes, I believe my skills have improved significantly and learned to become more creative. I continue to learn and am thankful to be surrounded by so many talented photographers who began as I did. I thank the school for this opportunity to showcase some of my work.
The theme of this project is “Impressionism.” The images technically reflect “in camera movement.” Realizing that I was shaking my camera when using heavier lenses, I decided to take advantage of this anomaly and get creative. The surrealism of the photos lends a bit of mystery, though the subjects are easily recognized. The photos in the show were all taken in camera and post-processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.
All the photographs are archivally printed on Epson Legacy Baryta paper. I chose this paper to bring out the colors and depth of the images. I hope you enjoy them!
Please join us on Sun., Sept. 17th from 10:30 A.M – 4:00 P.M. to view and congratulate this year's class. 14 students have worked months to create amazing bodies of work! Included with the WithInSight Gallery this year are photographs from our new High School Program (FreshLens). Included in the opening are hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a raffle with a chance to win one of the artist's prints. We hope to see you!
